From the Pastor’s Heart,

In the name of Jesus, I thank God for every one of you! There is nothing greater than growing in the knowledge and nature of Jesus Christ together. Praise God there is so much more to come. It warms my heart to see many of you using the gifts that God has graciously given to you to strengthen and direct the future of God’s Kingdom here on earth and our house of God that we call Emory.

We are going to need that power, strength and protection that only God can give us going forward, especially this year with the vote in late August, early September to the direction of Emory as it pertains to the UMC. We will be beginning dialogue with each other in the coming months as information is given to me with relation to the Protocol of Reconciliation and Grace through Separation. As your pastor, you will be well informed on all that transpires between now and the actual vote in 2022.

Be ever mindful that this will be the most important decision in the long history of Emory that the church will have to make. The decision will be yours as to the future of Emory. Also, we need to pray so that when that vote comes we will be able to make a prayerful, biblical and Holy Spirit minded decision going forward.

Staying focused on the mission of the church should never be forgotten. We need to stay focused on Jesus to continue to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to the children, teenagers, young, and seasoned adults.

As you see all around us, evil is spreading like wild fire. But we know that with Jesus with us, as it says in Isaiah 54: 17, “no weapon that is formed against me will succeed.” Also in Joshua 1: 9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Together we are stronger to face anything that may come our way! Amen and Amen!

In Christ!
Pastor Steve
