“Like sands in an hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” That statement came from a soap opera that my grandmother watched. Proverbs 3: 1-2 says, “My son, do not forget my teaching, but have your heart comply with my commandments; 2 For length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.”
In the chaotic world we live in today, are we living under teachings of Jesus Christ? Do we remember his teachings? Do we complain and moan and groan about all the craziness that is going on in our society or do we remember what is said in 1 John 2: 17, “The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.”
One of the words that we forget from Jesus is trust. Psalm 56: 3-4 says, “3When I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. 4 In God, whose word I praise, In God I have put my trust; I shall not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” We can get so consumed with everything going on around us that we forget that the one who created you says, “6 Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or in dread of them, for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you. He will not desert you or abandon you.” Deuteronomy 31: 6.
This is why the House of God is so important. It is a place for God’s people to come together and hear the very words of God and be uplifted and strengthened to be able to face the world we live in and know that no matter what happens, God’s promises to his people are always true and we can have security in knowing that. We come together as one as God is one and lift each other up and comfort and pray for one another as the scripture teaches us, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Proverbs 27: 17.
Remember these words by the Apostle Paul, “11 Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice, mend your ways, be comforted, be like-minded, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.
Trust in the teachings of Jesus and encourage one another as the days go by and live for him and you will see that our Lord will do marvelous and wonderful things in the days of our lives!
